Grade One
Today was Lucy's first day of Grade one! All day, every day. And there were no tears! This was the first year with no tears on the first day of school. Progress!
Well, Max cried a bit. How will those two handle not hanging out together all day, every day? How will I handle these boys by myself without Lucy? Oh life.
Lucy woke up this morning without hesitation (which is so not normal), and got herself all ready. She had picked out her back-to-school outfit last week. Shoes and everything. So excited.
We all went with her today, but tomorrow she will be taking the bus. Crazy! The bus! Fortunately the school is about 8 minutes away, so it's not a long bus-ride.
Kids were running a bit crazy and we were unsure what to do. We finally saw the principle and she pointed us in the right direction. Her teacher is Ms. Blommestyn and she looks young, friendly, and fun. I whispered the Lucy that the young teachers are usually the most fun. Lucky her. One of the boys from her primary class is in her grade one class too, so at least there's one familiar face. I hope she makes friends quickly today. I saw a few kid's that I figured would be her type of people. Quiet and sweet.
Now the boys are trying to fill their day with boy things until Lucy comes home. We've played soccer, Dead man, had races, ate lunch, and played cars. Now it's quiet time (nap and quiet games for Max).
Tomorrow, Max and I head to the school for an hour in the classroom to meet his teacher...then both kids are in school all day on Friday. Crazy! What will Logan and I do for 7+ hours by ourselves? Nap time will be awesome. Just sayin'.
