Public Works

Today we went to the Public Works Open House.  Pretty much a little boy's heaven.  Big trucks, diggers, firetrucks galore.  They even handed out toy hard-hats.

And the kids got to plant a flower to take home.

Max's favourite part was operating one of the trucks by remote control

And the Fire Truck.  Loved it!

A Good Cause

Today, the Young Woman held a fundraiser to raise money for Girls Camp.  We split up into groups of 2-5 and set out to do service and a number of homes in our branch.  The jobs ranged from dusting, gardening, sweeping, washing windows, mowing lawns...basically anything that was asked of us.  It was another hot hot day so I was glad to be done by mid-afternoon.

The two girls in my group and I cleaned, and detailed our van, washed windows and mowed lawns, weeded a garden, and cleaned out a camper trailer that is being sold.  They worked hard and earned some money towards their camp.  It was a great effort.

And tonight, we all went to the church for a branch BBQ.  About 10 sisters (including myself) brought pies to be auctioned off to finish the fundraiser.  It was a ton of fun.  Our auctioneer was great, and again, people were so generous and we raised all the money we'll need.  Excellent!  I made a Chocolate Chip Cookie pie, because it was quick and easy after a day of cleaning, and it looked delicious.

We bought a Lemon Meringue pie at Lucy's request.

The boys finished the evening by playing football in the field by the church, and playing helicopter.

 We have a great branch!

Like it Hot Hot Hot

The weather here this week has been fan-freakin-tastic!  Hats and sunscreen have been a must and I love it!

Perfect Day

I love a holiday monday.  Especially when you have plans to clean and de-junk the basement, and your friends invite you to the beach, so you do that instead.

Then you come home for naps and downtime in the afternoon, and finish the awesome day off with tasty home-made burgers and fun in the sprinkler.

The sprinkler took about 25 minutes.  The beach was about 4 hours, but the pictures do not reflect that.

Logan had the best facial expressions when going through the sprinkler.  It was awesome.

Lastly, the kids warmed up in the tub.  We read scriptures while I braided Lucy's hair and she said, "Keep reading Dad, I love listening to this!"  (awesome moment).  And the kids read for a few minutes in their beds before going to sleep.  Perfect Day.
