Ridiculous

We got Twister for Christmas.  This kid is impossible to beat.

Everyday I'm Shovelling!

It's my new theme song.  Thursday morning, we woke to the biggest snowfall I have seen in years.  Mountains.  Literally.  And since then, the snow has not stopped.  It is now Sunday and this morning around 6am the snow finally stopped.  We have been shovelling multiple times a day, every day.  And not just shovelling little skiffs.  We're talking mounds of heavy snow.  Piled so high that I'm not sure where to put it anymore.

Lucy's been a really good sport about playing in the snow.  Even letting us bury her.

The advantage is...the snow is up to the deck in the backyard, so we can create an awesome luge so the kids can fly off the deck into the snow slide.  Good times.

Christmas 2012

Last night, as we went to bed, I said to Tyler, "I wonder if this will be the first year that our kids will wake US up on Christmas morning?"

The answer to that question is....no.  I woke up at about 7:45 and the house was quiet.  Got Logan up at about 8:15.  Max was up at 8:20 and the boys went to wake Lucy up at 8:30.  We heard her say, "I forgot it was Christmas!"  So present opening didn't start at our house till nearly 9:00.  So different from my childhood.  I remember sitting in Alison's room, watching the clock, watching the minutes turn from 6:59am to 7:00am, when we were finally allowed to go and wake up mom and dad.  My kids just like their sleep.  I'm ok with that.

Happy chaos ensued.

Whoopie Cushion.  Exactly what he asked for.

Underwear!

An iPod Touch from Grandma.  This gift resulted in shaking, happy tears.

 A family blanket from Kari

Then we headed to Larocques for Christmas brunch.  We have such great friends.  We were worried about being lonely on Christmas day (well, I was), but I day was so full there wasn't time for loneliness.  Well, I felt a pang of loneliness when Sarah called to wish us a happy Christmas.  We were home in time for Logan to have a nap and for us to skype with families in Alberta.  Then it was quick showers and getting ready to go to our friends, the Haynes, for Christmas dinner.  Full day!  Kids were so pleased.  And Lucy was especially excited that we got another skiff of snow for Christmas morning.

The aftermath.

Christmas Eve

Yesterday we had our beautiful Christmas Sacrament Meeting and enjoyed being able to view and participate in the Branch Nativity.  They put it on every year and it's quite a production.  4 shows on the 23rd and 3 on the 24th.  We had volunteered to help in any way needed because we had never done it before.  The kids and I watched the first show, and then we were able to be shepherds in the 3rd.  There was a lack of male help, and so Tyler ended up being Joseph the entire evening, and I got to be his Mary for one performance.

It was really a fantastic experience and I was glad to be able to participate.  It seems like a good way to prepare for Christmas.

When we got home from the pageant, it was time for Christmas Even jammies and to get the Christmas cookies ready for Santa.  We read our final book in our countdown to Christmas, Twas the Night before Christmas.

We also talked about the birth of Jesus and what we were most thankful for.

And lastly we tracked Santa on the NORAD Santa Tracker before the kids were off to bed.

Fortunately, Tyler and I stayed up until 1am last night wrapping presents, so tonight was just a matter of getting everything under the tree before bed.  This is our first year away from home and family for Christmas, so I'm excited and nervous to see what tomorrow will bring for us.
