Washington - Mt. Vernon and Arlington Cemetery

Day one in Washington is muggy and hot!

We decided to go and see Mt. Vernon (home of George and Martha Washington).  What an amazing man and an amazing property.  He was definitely a man of vision.  The innovations on his farm were incredible for the time period.

We had a quick bite of lunch and then headed to Arlington Cemetery, which was also awe inspiring.  We got to see the changing of the guard and view the miles of tombstones of our service men and women.

We thought about doing some monuments into the evening, but the kids were pretty wiped with their sight-seeing for the day, so we just headed to the hotel of Tyler's conference and went up top to swim in the pool and relax.  Totally what my kids needed.  We had fun doing races across the pool, strong-man competitions in the fitness facility, and reading pool-side.

Did I mention it was hot and muggy here?
