Monday in Newfoundland.

Monday in Newfoundland.  So a hotel downtown right by the harbour and c-cans is glamorous to look at by day...noisy by night.  Oh well.  Lack of sleep is less stressful when there's no kids around.

Tyler was up and off to meetings this morning.  I snagged some breakfast, did some yoga and got ready.  I was able to attend Tyler's presentation this morning.  There was another speaker before him and I am reminded frequently of how he is an anomaly in his field.  He's interesting to listen to.  nice on the eyes.  And speaks fluent english.  Very rare.  His brain is so sexy.

After he was done presenting, he had more meetings to attend, so I walked downtown a bit.  I didn't buy any souvenirs yet, but I have some ideas.  And I stopped at a candy store and bought us some gummies and jelly bellies.

Once Tyler was done his meetings, we did what we could to get a boat tour.  The stars aligned and we were on a boat at 4pm (after eating some yummy poutine!  we'll see if that was the right choice of meal before a boat ride on the ocean).

Time to do some whale watching.

We could see some whales breaching on the horizons and seriously the boat could not go fast enough to get to them.  By the time we got there, they were finished breaching, but were still visible.  I kept commenting that the kids would love to see the whales, but Lucy would not like the boat ride.  Waves on the ocean are HUGE!  Lots of fun.

We followed one whale for a while and then saw a mom and baby by Cape Spear.  It was INCREDIBLY freezing with the rain and wind and ocean spray in your face, but we toughed it out in the name of whale watching.

No icebergs or puffins though.  Bummer.

When we got back to the hotel, we were so cold.  We got into our bathing suits and headed for the hot tub and sauna.  Then we ordered in food to our room and skyped with the kids for a bit before watching a movie.

Great day 2.
