Mexico or Bust!

Yesterday, Lucy's class, along with a bunch of other classes from her school, headed to the Invista Center for skating. She was so pumped. She kept telling me that she was going to be able to help other kids in her class because she already knows how to skate. The last time she went skating, was also the first time. Last year, February, with her Kindergarten class for lessons. About 2 days after getting her cast off from a broken leg. They went twice a week for a few weeks, so they got the hang of it, but i'm not sure she ever ventured past the boards.

When Tyler got home from Toronto and found out about skating, he looked at his schedule to see if he could surprise her by going. It worked out that he could, and Logan and I decided to tag along to watch and take pictures. Lucy was surprised and a bit relieved when he dad skated over to her. We could see her on the other side of the rink, gripping the boards and not making it much past one section of board the whole time it took Tyler to lace-up.

With her dad's hand to hold, she was a new girl and warmed up quickly. A few slow turns around then ice, and then she was able to get quicker. Seriously, a Dad helping his daughter is a handsome thing...

Eventually, she even let go and skated on her own. What a big girl.

They took a break for only a few minutes, and were back out there. She loved it, and can't wait until we go skating again. Looks like we'll need to invest in some skates for the boys, so we can all go together.

Logan spent most of his time walking back and forth among the spectator chairs, venturing just a little farther all the time. Always pushing the boundaries.

Before we left to go on the field trip, Tyler noticed a seat-sale on Air Canada for flights to Cancun. We've been monitoring their website for a few weeks now, planning to book tickets for the end of March so we can go to his cousins wedding and spend time with his parents there. Today was the day. Perfect price. Tickets booked!! I am WAY excited. We've never been anywhere, so this is so exciting. I'ms use when the date gets closer I'll be more nervous about sleep arrangements and safety, but right now, I"m just excited about warm weather, beaches, and vacation time.

I decided to surprise the kids with a Mexican dinner and party favours to celebrate booking our tickets. It was fortunate planning that Mexican was already on the menu for tonight, but the decor was a quick stop at the dollar store. It looks more like a trip to Hawaii is in the plans, but it was the best I could do with such a small Dollar Store and limited time.

We had fun eating our quesadillas and sipping Margaritas.

Logan even got a Dora plate for the occasion. When we told Logan that we were going to Mexico, he said, "OK, boots on?" I wish we were going today too!
