I spent ALL day cleaning the house and getting organized for Grandma's arrival. Everyone was kind of buzzing all day with anticipation. Her flight left at 8:30 Thursday morning and we expected her to arrive around 5pm. She flew into Toronto and had to drive from there to here. We were biting our nails hoping she would make it on time to come to Taekwondo with us.
Tyler called me at one point during the day and said he tried to call his dad on his cell phone and it was off..."I wonder if he's surprising us with a visit..." Of course, this got my hopes up right away and all I could think of all day is, "Wouldn't it be great if Papa came too!" I didn't tell the kids what we suspected because my hopes, when dashed, are easily soothed. There's are not so much.
Lucy came home from school, and we were in our 'busy-mode' to get dinner on the table and get dressed before Taekwondo. Lucy had her dobach on and decided to wait, looking out the front window for Grandma. Max was being slow. "She's here!!"
We all rushed to the door. Grandma in the driver's seat...alone. But wait, I think I saw a face in the back. Yup, Papa was laying down in the back seat. Grandma got out and gave hugs all around and then asked Max if he could get Grandma's suitcase out of the backseat. Max opened the door and was surprised by Papa! Funniest part is when he still tried to get Grandma's suitcase after Papa got out.
We all rushed to Taekwondo for Grandma AND Papa to be able to watch. The kids were a bit distracted, but we still had fun.
(Bonus - Papa brought his nice camera with him, so we got way better photos!)
Logan always has mixed feelings at Taekwondo. He loves it, because he just wants to DO IT! And he hates it...because he's not allowed to do it. So he entertained himself with pylons.
It may appear that Lucy is concentrating very hard, with the tongue sticking out ALL the time...but actually she has a loose tooth and can't help be wiggle it...constantly!
