Let's Go To The Movies!

For Christmas, my mom gave each of us kids copies of her journal entries from when she was pregnant with us, our birth stories and a few experiences from our early childhood. In mine, I came to the realization that by the time I was 3 years old, I had seen 3 movies in the theatre: Aristocats, Cinderella, and Robin Hood. Lucy is 2 1/2 and has never been to the movies, although she has seen more movies in her lifetime than a lot of people. So, on Friday evening we took Lucy to the movie theatre for her first time and saw the movie "Enchanted". Her grandma and aunties had seen it and thought she would love it as she is very into musicals right now...and of course, princesses. Because the theatre was so busy, we ended up having to sit in the second row, which was a little close for Lucy. During the previews she kept having to look back and forth across the screen to take in everything. All in all it was a pretty cute movie, but the arm and a leg it cost us to get in and buy popcorn was something to make a record of for the history books. A child ticket cost $8 and getting two large popcorn, two large drinks and a bag of candy (shared by 7 people) cost $23!! Tyler and I haven't been to a movie since before Lucy was born, so this was a bit of a shock to our system. It's a good thing our daughter has a good memory, because she'll have to savor this experience for a long time.

At the end of the movie we asked Lucy which movie was better, Enchanted, or Hairspray, and she still sticks with Hairspray.

We took Emma to go see "Bee Movie" a while back as her first trip to the theatre. We were lucky enough to sit in the back row so she could see everything just fine, but you know her and loud noises. It'll be a while before we go back I think.
