Skating

While Grandma and Bumpa were here, we decided to take advantage of the free skate at Market Square.  Emma's never been skating before, so she was super excited to go.  She's a bit of a perfectionist as well, so it was hard at first when she couldn't do it right away, but she practiced and caught up to Lucy fairly quickly.

Starbucks handed out free peppermint hot chocolate.  It was deliciously delicious.  Mmmm-mmm.

My mother in her element.  I wish the rest of us had inherited her talent for skating.  She says when we were kids we lived across the street from a skating rink and at night, after we had all gone to bed, she would go across to the skating rink by herself and skate while dad sat in the living room and watched her from the window.  And when she was a kid, her dad made a skating rink in their backyard and she would be on it all night until the streetlights came out.

After the zamboni cleared the ice, mom slipped on the new ice and banged her head.  She took it easy from that point…crazy lady.  But she wouldn't stop because she loves skating too much.

This appears to be a very cruel trick played by a dad on his exhausted son, but to be honest, Logan asked him to do it.

The Hills Are Alive!

Opening Night of Lucy's play was a huge success.  It was freezing outside, but it was awesome inside. Lucy did a great job!  We weren't allowed to take pictures of videos throughout the performance, but I did manage to get some curtain call pictures.  What a princess.  She has worked SO hard and practiced a lot.  She was full of nerves when her and I arrived and getting her mic taped to her neck brought her to tears.  I hugged her quickly and reminded her that she knew her stuff.  She said,

"Mom, I'm not worried about me!  I'm worried about everyone else!"

Thus speaks the perfectionist.

When she first marched into the room she was biting her cheeks to not smile at all her family in the front row.

Standing Ovations!!

This is how we do it!

Grandma, Bumpa, Gigi and Emma came to visit because Lucy is in The Sound of Music.  She's playing the part of Gretel (and playing it very well!)  But we had 5 days with Grandma and Bumpa…5 fantastic days.

Here's how we do company:

Pancake Breakfasts

Emma's first taste of milk from a bag!

Extended jammie time and reading

Fancy dinners

Lots of games

Family Scripture Study time

And more reading…waiting to go ice-skating!!

We love have visitors.  We bought this house specifically with the idea that we would have people over.  Firesides.  Parties.  Activities.  But it always the best when family comes to visit.  Always.  The.  Best.

FHE - chocolate surprise

For FHE tonight we tested out my new chocolate moulds.  I got them for a YWs Christmas activity coming up.  So we decided it would be a nice thought to make chocolates for the kids teachers.  Logan chose to make one for his Nursery Teacher.
